So many women, including myself, experience heavy menstrual bleeding during their period every month. It is always very inconvenient for me and often times I end up missing work. I’m always spending a lot of money on different kinds of sanitary products every month. Sometimes, I also have lower back pain and my abdomen swells so much that I can’t fit into my regular pants.
Did you know that uterine fibroids could be my problem? Also, women who have fibroids are more likely to have problems during their pregnancy and delivery. About 20 to 80 percent of women develop uterine fibroids by the time they reach age 50 and I’m one of them. No one knows what causes these fibroids and it’s unknown what causes them to grow or shrink. I never knew that I had uterine fibroids until I had an ultrasound several months ago when I went to my gynecologist. There are other tests that can help find out if you have fibroids.
My doctor said typically when my fibroids shrink that could cause my heavy periods to also decrease. This could be my solution not to have a hysterectomy and miss four to six weeks of work. I have tried so many things to help reduce my heavy menstrual bleeding and nothing has worked so far. This is why I’m so excited about a new investigational medication that FMC Science is evaluating in the Lampasas area. This study trial is taking place for women like me who want help as soon as possible. By participating, this investigational medication could help safely and effectively reduce bleeding during my period. This study is being managed by local physicians.
I’m calling them today to see if I qualify for this study. I heard that they are also compensate for time and travel for volunteering. There are no out-of-pocket costs and all exams and tests that are associated with this study will be paid for. It is important to me to improve my health as well as contributing to advancing research and healthcare. I want to take more of an active role in my health.
